Its the people that make the place
Recently I stayed with my bf in this hotel and was very pleasantly surprised. We got a deal for 129 each mid week. I therefore thought that we'd be put in some room down the back of the hotel. Not to be. We got a lovely room immaculately clean. The smell of fresh Lillies greets you as you enter the reception. Truly a great time. Food included in our deal was one of the nicest steaks I've ever eaten:) anything that we asked for was immediately brought to us and the people of the town are very friendly knowledgeable and hospitable. We had trouble with the plumbing but they immediately sorted it for us and gave us the use of another room. Great stay.
A really pleasant surprise!
Just back from an overnight stay in this hotel on sat 16th of May for my nieces First Communion and we have all been blown away by this hotel. My boyfriend and I previously stayed in Killarney once before and were not in the least impressed so we weren't expecting much BUT this hotel has completely changed our opinion on the town. The staff in this hotel were so helpful and pleasant and the level of service was the best we have ever experienced at home or abroad.
Our family group consisted of 7 adults and 3 children, We all arrived in an unorganised bunch at reception and were given really fast and friendly service at check in hassle free even though the desk was busy. Our room (103) was small but spotless and cheerful and had everything you could need. My sister booked the meal for 6:15pm however we were more than 15 minutes late and at no stage did the staff get snippy with us for this. At the meal all of us noticed the level of service was great and it didn't just feel like they were being nice because they had to be they all spared the time for a quick joke with the kids or a recommendation etc.
My niece Rosie was also given a lovely gift and card as a memento of her day from the hotel which was given to her at dinner by a lovely waiter (didn't get his name) and a waitress called Rose who made her feel so special, We all thought this was such a lovely gesture.
To sum it up although this is a well known 'chain' hotel it has tons of charm and that together with the fab food and excellent service make for a great trip. Will definitely be back!
Fantastic food and service
We spent 2 nights in Killarney here. Our tour group travelled in the off-season in January and still they were pleasant and accommodating. They even had a sign for us at the entrance. Porters quickly transported our luggage to our rooms.
The evening group dinner Wednesday evening was fabulous. I believe I had the trout. Compliments to the chefs! The breakfasts were delicious and offered a nice variety of continental and prepared meals. Excellent service.
Our rooms were comfortable and I loved the tiled bathroom. It was quite nice and spacious by comparison to other hotels. I highly recommend this place for future trips.
Honest Review
Mostly Irish staff will give a real Irish welcome and stay as it used to be although no complaints about foreigh staff especially Magda in the reception.
I can be very critical of hotel cleaning standards but found the hotel rooms and public areas to be excellent.
Also on plus side breakfast served by waitress. If full Irish not required a choice may be picked from menu. Extras no problem. Breakfast in room only extra 5 Euro. Free Daily and Sunday papers in reception.
Location perfect for centre of town. Go out and enjoy local pubs / shows / restaurants and finish back at hotel where as a resident you can be served in residents bar after public bar shuts.
Entertainment in bar very good with different bands featured.
The only reason I think this hotel only has three stars is because it does not have a swimming pool/car park because it has a town centre location otherwise compared to continental hotels it is four star.
We stayed for eight nights and enjoyed every minute.
